We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Business Controller specializing in Metal and Energy to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role is designed for a finance professional who thrives in a complex, fast-paced industrial environment and is passionate about contributing to a sustainable future.
Metal and Energy are not merely input factors for Speira; they represent the bedrock of our operational efficiency, the core of our recycling strategy, and critical levers for our ambitious NEXT improvement program. As the Business Controller for Metal and Energy, you will be instrumental in supporting Speira to achieve its significant growth and sustainability targets. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in close partnership with a diverse range of stakeholders across plant operations, various Business Units, and Corporate leadership. You will play an essential role in steering Speira's financial performance, providing critical insights, and ensuring our strategic goals are met in an ever-evolving global market. This is more than a controlling role; it's a chance to make a tangible impact on our commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a strategic financial partner, collaborating closely with operational teams, business unit leaders, and corporate functions to optimize the financial performance related to metal procurement, processing, and energy consumption.
- Lead the comprehensive budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning processes specifically for metal and energy expenditures, ensuring alignment with Speira’s overall strategic objectives and market trends.
- Drive robust cost control and optimization initiatives across all aspects of metal and energy usage, identifying efficiency gains, waste reduction opportunities, and supporting the implementation of cost-saving measures.
- Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models to analyze commodity price volatility, hedging strategies, and the financial impact of various metal and energy market scenarios.
- Prepare and present detailed financial reports, performance dashboards, and key performance indicators (KPIs) related to metal and energy, providing actionable insights to senior management and recommending corrective actions where necessary.
- Actively participate in and provide financial steering for the NEXT improvement program, ensuring that projects related to metal recycling, energy efficiency, and operational excellence deliver their targeted financial benefits.
- Support the evaluation and financial analysis of capital expenditure projects focused on enhancing our recycling capabilities, improving energy efficiency, or investing in new metal processing technologies.
- Monitor and analyze the financial implications of regulatory changes, environmental policies, and sustainability initiatives related to energy consumption and raw material sourcing.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of Speira’s recycling strategy by providing financial expertise on the economic viability and impact of increased recycling rates and circular economy principles.
- Identify potential financial risks associated with metal and energy markets, supply chain disruptions, and operational inefficiencies, and collaborate on the development of mitigation strategies.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related quantitative field. A Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) is a significant advantage.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in business controlling, financial analysis, or a similar strategic finance role, ideally within a manufacturing, heavy industry, metals, energy, or commodities-intensive environment.
- Demonstrated expert proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and comprehensive cost accounting principles.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel is mandatory; experience with large datasets and complex financial calculations.
- Solid experience with major ERP systems (e.g., SAP FI/CO, BW) for financial reporting, data extraction, and analysis.
- Strong analytical acumen with the ability to interpret complex financial data, identify trends, draw actionable insights, and present findings clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
- Proven strategic mindset with the ability to link financial performance to broader strategic goals and contribute to long-term business planning.
- Exceptional communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively across all organizational levels and functions (plant, BU, corporate).
