You will be instrumental in supporting our high-volume caseload, contributing to all phases of litigation from initial case assessment through trial preparation, and gaining exposure to various aspects of consumer rights advocacy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research on intricate points of law, statutes, regulations, and case precedents relevant to Lemon Law, consumer fraud, and civil litigation matters, utilizing advanced legal research platforms such as Westlaw and LexisNexis.
  • Draft a variety of legal documents, including but not limited to, legal memoranda, pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, and correspondence, ensuring accuracy and adherence to California Rules of Court and firm standards.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials by organizing exhibits, compiling witness information, and preparing trial binders.
  • Review, analyze, and summarize extensive client documents, discovery responses, and other evidentiary materials to identify key facts, legal issues, and potential strategies.
  • Support the case management process by maintaining well-organized physical and electronic client files, tracking important deadlines, and ensuring compliance with court rules.
  • Contribute to the development of case strategies by participating in team meetings, offering insights from research, and helping to identify potential legal arguments.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel under the direct supervision of an attorney, maintaining confidentiality and firm protocols.
  • Perform administrative tasks as needed to support the efficient operation of the legal team, including court filings (e-filing), scheduling, and document production.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Juris Doctor (J.D.) program at a recognized law school.
  • Demonstrated strong academic performance, particularly in subjects relevant to civil procedure, torts, contracts, and legal research and writing.
  • Exceptional legal research skills with proficiency in Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal databases.
  • Superior legal writing and analytical abilities, with a keen eye for detail and precision.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • A strong interest in consumer protection law, civil litigation, and advocating for client rights.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a dynamic legal team.
  • Must be able to commit to the required hours, which may vary based on caseload and project demands.
