ING Netherlands is seeking a Senior Sustainability Consultant to join its dynamic Center of Expertise (CoE) Sustainability. Our CoE Sustainability team is at the forefront of embedding sustainable practices across all facets of our operations and client offerings. This specific position is dedicated to advancing our Planetary Health agenda, focusing on critical environmental challenges such as climate change, circular economy, and biodiversity. You will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and monitoring initiatives that reduce ING’s environmental footprint and enable our clients to transition towards more sustainable business models. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of strategic initiatives focused on Planetary Health within ING Netherlands, aligning with global sustainability goals and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct in-depth analysis of environmental data, trends, and regulations to inform strategic decision-making and identify new opportunities for sustainable impact.
• Advise and influence senior management and various business units across ING NL on best practices, emerging issues, and strategic approaches related to environmental sustainability.
• Drive the integration of Planetary Health considerations into ING's core business processes, product development, and risk management frameworks.
• Manage complex sustainability projects from conception to delivery, ensuring timely execution, adherence to budget, and achievement of measurable outcomes.
• Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, including risk management, finance, product development, and external partners, to foster a collective approach to sustainability.
• Develop compelling presentations, reports, and communication materials to articulate ING's Planetary Health strategy, progress, and impact to diverse audiences.
• Stay abreast of the latest developments in environmental science, sustainable finance, regulatory landscape (e.g., EU Taxonomy, CSRD, TCFD, SBTi), and industry best practices.
• Identify and champion innovative solutions and technologies that can accelerate ING's and its clients' transition to a low-carbon, circular, and nature-positive economy.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Proven experience in a sustainability consulting role, ideally within the financial services sector or a large corporate environment, with a strong focus on environmental sustainability (Planetary Health).
• Demonstrable strong analytical capabilities, with the ability to dissect complex problems, interpret data, and formulate clear, actionable recommendations.
• Exceptional influencing skills, capable of engaging and persuading diverse stakeholders at all organizational levels, including senior leadership.
• A strategic mindset, coupled with a delivery-oriented approach, ensuring that strategies are not only well-conceived but also effectively executed.
• Energetic and creative problem-solver, with a proactive attitude towards identifying challenges and developing innovative solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Dutch (preferred), with the ability to articulate complex sustainability concepts clearly and concisely.
• Master's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability Management, Business Administration with a focus on sustainability, or a related field.
• In-depth knowledge of global and European environmental regulations, frameworks, and reporting standards relevant to the financial sector.
• Project management experience, with a track record of successfully leading and delivering complex initiatives.
